Idea Capture
-
Start with your interests. Your interests seem banal, but they are unique to you. Any place you naturally gravitate to will be a place other people won't notice. That's a place where you can start to put together a mission.
-
Notice where you're a 1%-er in your life. It doesn't matter if it's in work, play, friendship or any other place. Notice where you naturally rise to the top through your efforts. Your mission may lie there.
-
Figure out where you're dissatisfied. If you're chronically dissatisfied with something in your life, you're likely running into a missing piece of yourself. These pain points are critical to figuring out where you need to be spending your time an energy.
-
Get it in writing. Don't just think about your mission, go write it down. Start with a general brainstorming activity of all the things you care about, and then begin to whittle it down until you can feel your soul coming through your finger tips.
-
Go play. Play is how your brain makes sense of all of the chaos. After a long session of writing, plan some one on one time and let go. When you come back, you'll start to see things you didn't notice before.
Find your mission, find your purpose.
