Okay.
Let's think more critically.
Manager, Cosmologist, come out.
What are your questions?
- Is this farm the right place to be, geographically?
- Should I be in Missouri/KS/OH instead?
- Should I be in El Paso, Streator, Eureka, Minonk, Lincoln, Clinton, Riverton, Atlanta, Hopedale, Delevan, instead? Pekin, Metamora?
- What home-based work can I take on?
- Is farming really the right thing? Small town might be more appropriate.
Take in turn.
## Is this farm the place to be?
This farm has always been identified as in the middle of nowhere. It was suggested when bought that it needed a grain elevator installed.
It has no close market opportunities. It has little community serendipity.
It has little biological diversity, most of it has been converted to tilled acres.
No, is the unfortunate, but likely answer.
## Should I be in MO/KS/OH?
MO/KS are less economically oppressive and less regulated. Land taxes are lower. Fertility, also, is lower.
The particular diocese should be evaluated.
## Should I be in El Paso, Streator, Eureka, Minonk, Lincoln, Clinton...
Maybe.
Why one over the other though?
We have some ties in El Paso but they are not strong. There is (seemingly) a thriving Church there. Lots of economic activity. TH Fab.
I don't know much about Streator/Eureka/Minonk but these seem to be functioning communities.
## What home-based work can I take on?
_That which can be done adjacent to the home and would lend itself towards the involvement of children_
_Ideally actually contributes value to a local community_
- Furniture
- Timber framing is probably _not_ the right thing for a truly home-based business, unless making kits
- Kombuchery
- Fabricating / Machining _something_
- Auto repair
- Custom machinery fabrication
- Blacksmithing
- Mechanical Design
- Art is _hard_ to get rolling. I am not really committed to this, in all honesty.
- Animal husbandry
- Feed mill
-
## Is farming really the right thing?
You may see the rightness in it, but often the right idea comes to the wrong person.
## Errata
I have no anchor
except this one which is crippling
if i let it go
to where will I drift...
At Lynx
the lesson i needed to learn was maybe not so much that I hate this sort of work
but that i hate what work has become
when will
agh
there is shop work to be done
maybe ill just do that |
